I am honored to be a part of Operation Write Home‘s Veteran’s Day Blog Hop. Operation Write Home is a fabulous organization. They are a group of crafters from across America (and beyond!) who make handmade cards for deployed heroes so they can keep in touch with their loved ones at home! They serve all branches of the military in all deployed locations, including those stationed aboard ships. Please visit their home page for more information on supporting this wonderful cause.

As part of the blog hop, I will be showing you two cards today. The first is an “Any Hero” card. It is a thank you card that will be going to one of our service men or women, in appreciation of the sacrifices they are making for our country. I wanted to make a patriotic card, but since Eve was writing the message for the inside, I chose a design that reflected that. It is both patriotic and kid-like. (The great shape at the top is made by turning the Top Note die cut 90° and running it through the Big Shot a second time.)

Stamps: Beary Best Friends, Beary Nice Wishes
Ink: StazOn Black, Night of Navy
Paper: Real Red, Whisper White, Jackpot Designer Series Paper (dress), Hostess Prints Pack Designer Series Paper (Night of Navy)
Other: Watercolor Wonder Crayons, Top Note Bigz Die, Big Shot

Here is Eve’s note on the inside:

The second card I have to share with you today is one of the blank Valentines that will be sent to the troops. so they have Valentines to send home to their loved ones. It may seem early for Valentines, but when you figure shipping time abroad and back, it’s not too early. I wanted to make something that was not “lumpy,” so it would be easy to mail, as well as something that would be appropriate for a man or women. This is what I came up with:

Stamps: A Happy Heart
Ink: Real Red, Creamy Caramel
Paper: Real Red, Creamy Caramel, Very Vanilla, Jackpot Designer Series Paper
Other: Sponge Daubers

I hope you have enjoyed this stop on Operation Write Home‘s Veteran’s Day Blog Hop.

Your next stop is Cindy at Heart’s Delight Cards.

I can’t wait to see what she has made!

The thing I miss most,  living here in Southern California, is the Fall Colors. I love the beauty of the trees in the fall! Even though most of the colors are passed their peak else where, I can still create beautiful Fall colors on my cards. This is the third card that I will be making with my faculty group this month. It is quick and easy, though the Top Note Die Cut gives it a sense of elegance.

Stamps: Season of Friendship, Sanded
Ink: Soft Suede, Crushed Curry, Pumpkin Pie, Ruby Red
Paper: Ruby Red, Soft Suede, Very Vanilla
Other: 1/4″ Pumpkin Pie Grosgrain Ribbon

I’m on the social committee at school. We plan events where we can hang out and relax as a faculty — things that don’t involve school work. So of course I volunteered to host card making in the library. Our big tables are just perfect for stamping! Today was our first get together, and we had a lot of fun. We made a few different Halloween projects, and one of them fit perfectly with today’s Pals Paper Arts color challenge. (Actually two of them did, but I’ll save the other for another day.) Throw in a little black, and these colors are delightfully spooky!

One of the Halloween treats that we made today was this great little bag. Look familiar? Of course it does! I have made them for Hanukkah, Valentine’s Day, and  St. Patrick’s Day. I just love the way two peppermint patties look covered with scalloped circles and Top Note Die Cut on the baggie! Here is my Halloween version:

Stamps: Batty for You, All Holidays
Ink: Basic Black
Paper: Pumpkin Pie, Old Olive, Perfect Plum, Basic Black. Cast-a-Spell Designer Series Paper
Other: Top Note Die, Big Shot, Word Window Punch, 1 1/4″ Circle Punch, 1 3/8″ Circle Punch, Scallop Circle Punch, Small Cello Bags, peppermint patties

How cute would these be to hand out at Halloween parties> Or for very special Trick-or-Treaters?

My best friend from high school just had a baby, a second little boy. I wanted to make her something to celebrate his arrival, so I thought it would be a perfect time to try the Top Note Wallet. There is a great video tutorial for this on Stampin’ Addicts. Here is what the outside looks like:

Stamps: All in the Family, All in the Family Accessories
Ink: Bashful Blue, Certainly Celery
Paper: Bashful Blue, Certainly Celery, Whisper White
Accessories: Bashful Blue Striped Grosgrain Ribbon, Word Window Punch, 1 1/4″ Circle Punch, 1 3/8″ Circle Punch, Scallop Circle Punch, Soft Subtle Brads (Certainly Celery), Top Note Bigz Die

The inside uses two 3″ x 3″ envelopes to hold pictures. There is a spot for each of the boys.

Happy Independence Day! We were invited to one of my husband’s coworker’s houses tonight, so I wanted to make up a nice Fourth of July card for her. I tried a new technique today, Squaring the Top Note. Angela has a great tutorial for this on her blog. Basically what you do is cut out a Top Note with you Big Shot, then rotate it 90 degrees and run it through again. I love how it looks on this card! I used my white gel pen to make the faux stitching around the edges.

Stamps: Celebrate Everything
Ink: Real Red, Night of Navy
Paper: Real Red, Night of Navy, Whisper White
Accessories: Star Punch, Real Red 1/2″ Striped Grosgrain Ribbon, Uni Ball White Gel Pen, Top Note Bigz Die, Big Shot

I hope you have a fabulous Fourth, filled with fun, friends, family and fireworks!

My parents celebrated their 44th wedding anniversary last weekend — quite an accomplishment! The card that I made them had to use yellow, of course, since that is my mom’s favorite color. I used Yo-Yo Yellow, which is her current favorite. I’ll have to get her opinion of Crushed Curry, one of the brand new in-colors!

For this card I used the “Happy Anniversary” sentiment from Hugs & Wishes. This super versatile set of six phrases will be gone forever after June 30th, so order today!

Stamps: Thoughts & Prayers, Hugs & Wishes, Baroque Wheel
Ink: Yo-Yo Yellow, Old Olive
Paper: Yo-Yo Yellow, Old Olive, Whisper White:
Accessories: Top Note Bigz Die, Old Olive 1/4″ Grosgrain Ribbon, Sponge Daubers
