Wow! Today is the 40th Anniversary of Sesame Street. It is amazing to me to think that it has been around for almost my entire life — I was 1 month old when it started! I grew up watching it, I watched it as a babysitter, and finally watched it with Eve as a toddler. One of my most vivid Sesame Street memories was when Snuffleupagus became visible to the grown-ups on the show. What’s yours?

In celebration of the 40th anniversary, I created this punch art card of Sesame characters. I don’t know who came up with it first, there are a lot of versions out there! I was inspired by Sarah Wills version. This card is a 5″ square.

Paper: Only Orange, Basic Black, Old Olive, Brilliant Blue, Real Red, YoYo Yellow, Whisper White, Pixie Pink
Other: Scallop Circle Punch, 1/2″ Circle Punch, 1″ Circle Punch, Small Oval Punch, Slot Punch, Crop-a-dile

Happy Birthday, Sesame Street. Here’s to 40 more great years!

It is my sister-in-law’s birthday on Monday (in addition to my niece’s) and just like Eve made a birthday card for Sophia with this week’s Saturday Sketch Challenge, I made one for Abby.

She loves purple and cats, so what could be better than combining them?

Stamps: C is for Cat, Teeny Tiny Wishes
Ink: Rich Razzleberry, Orchid Opulence
Paper: Rich Razzleberry, Orchid Opulence, Whisper White, Cottage Wall Designer Series Paper
Accessories: Rich Razzleberry Polka Dot Grosgrain Ribbon

Come back later in the week to see the coordinating stationary set I made her as well.

Eve, who is 6 1/2, decided to give the Stamping 411 Saturday Sketch Challenge a try this morning. She wanted to make a card for her cousin Sophia who will be 2 on Monday. She liked this sketch a lot.

What could be better for her two-year-old cousin than a Build-a-Bear card? Eve did all of the designing, stamping, and coloring herself. I just helped by cutting the layers.

Stamps: Beary Best Friends, Beary Nice Wishes
Ink: Basic Black, Orchid Opulence, Pixie Pink
Paper: Pixie Pink, Lovely Lilac, Whisper White, Pawsitively Prints, Designer Series Paper
Accessories: Watercolor Wonder Crayons

I love stamping with Eve! She’s so much fun — and talented and creative besides!

Flower Fancy

I am excited to be accompanying the 4th graders once again this year on their service learning trip to visit Senior Citizens at the Jewish Home for the Aging.  For their first trip, the fourth graders will be making cards with their senior buddies. This gives them a nice project to do together, and leaves the seniors with cards that they can send. Below is the first card they will be making. Each person will be able to use their choice of sayings from the Sincere Salutations set, to make the card one they can use.

CIMG8417Stamps: Flower Fancy, Sincere Salutations
Ink: Regal Rose, So Saffron, Old Olive, Basic Black
Paper: Regal Rose, Old Olive, Whisper White

This is an easy two-step stamp set, because the outlines do not need to be exact to look great. I recommend stamping the insides first.

One of the women at work was looking through my box of cards for sale the other day and wondered if I could make a Happy Birthday card in Spanish. Of course, I exclaimed! Stampin’ Up has a fabulous line of Spanish language stamps! Her mom’s name is Rosa, so she wanted something with roses and also somewhat of a  shabby chic look to it. She also asked for a little bit bigger card then I normally make. So I grabbed my Rose is a Rose stamp set, and put together a 5 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ square card.

Stamps: A Rose is a Rose, Flores Llamatives
Ink: Regal Rose, Rose Red, Certainly Celery, Old Olive, Chocolate Chip
Paper: Regal Rose, Rose Red, Chocolate Chip, Whisper White
Accessories: Regal Rose 5/8″ Grosgrain Ribbon, Chocolate Chip 1/4″ Grosgrain Ribbon, Clear Rhinestone Brad, 1″ Circle Punch, 1 1/4″ Circle Punch, 1 3/8″ Circle Punch, Scallop Circle Punch, Crop-a-Dile, Stamp-a-Ma-Jig

My friend was so pleased with the way that it came out, she even bought her mother flowers to match! She sent me a picture of the card and flowers! I’m so happy that she liked the card so much.
