The Pals Paper Arts challenge this week is a sketch challenge. I gave it try yesterday, while making my husband Steve his birthday card. (I figured I better take advantage of his going fishing for the day and get his birthday card done!)

As I tried to figure out what to put in the three circles, my mind kept on drifting back to the Beer mug in Cheers to you. It was a touch big, but ended up working perfectly. I popped them up on Dimensionals. I also embossed the chocolate chip cardstock with the Perfect Details Texturz plate. One of the tips for getting a deeper impression with the Texturz plate is to spritz your card stock with water first, before running it through the Big Shot. I gave this piece a few good spritzes, and it worked great!

Stamps: Cheers to You, Heard from the Heart
Ink: Chocolate Chip, More Mustard
Paper: Chocolate Chip, More Mustard, Whisper White
Accessories: 1 3/4″ Circle Punch, Earth Elements Brads (More Mustard)

With all of the craziness of moving across the country, getting settled in, and starting school, I did not get my dad’s birthday card made and mailed on time. (Sorry Dad! It’s on its way!) My dad has always appreciated tree themed items, so I decided to use the tree from Season of Friendship and the sketch from over at Stampin’ 411. I didn’t post in time to make it on Mr. Linky, unfortunately. Here’s the sketch:

I’ve made a lot of fall cards with this set, but my Dad’s birthday is in August so I wanted to make a nice summery green card. I used my Color Wheel from Stampin’ Up to pick out what shades of green went best together. I decided on Garden Green and Certainly Celery. I love the way it came out!

Stamps: Season of Friendship, Birthday Wish
Ink: Garden Green, Certainly Celery, Soft Suede
Paper: Garden Green, Certainly Celery, Soft Suede, Whisper White
Accessories: Soft Suede Polka Dot Grosgrain Ribbon

We’ve been having a great time this summer, hanging out at the lake, fishing, roasting marshmallows, and eating S’mores. When I saw this sketch on the Stamping 411 challenge, I knew just what stamp set I was going to pull out!

I grabbed my Under the Stars set, with its matching Skeeter wheel, and went to work to create a card that reflect both the good and bad parts of the summer. (S’mores = good, mosquitos = bad) Here’s a helpful fishing tip for you. Fish like marshmallows too! We caught more fish with strawberry marshmallows than any other bait! Go figure!

Ink: Chocolate Chip, Creamy Caramel, Close to Cocoa
Paper: Creamy Caramel, Chocolate Chip, Whisper White, Cottage Wall Designer Series Paper
Accessories: Earth Elements Brads (Old Olive)

Be sure and stop back tomorrow to see what the next Stampin’ Up Deal of the Week is!

I finally had a chance to do the Stamping 411 Saturday Sketch Challenge! It was like a breath of fresh air to do a card as clean and simple as this!

I decided to use my brand new D is for Dog stamp set. Now, I may be partial since I have a lab, but I think this dog is so cute!! I love this new set, and I think it will go fabulously with the Man’s Best Friend set (currently on the dormant list). Here is what I came up with:

CIMG8192Stamps: D is for Dog
Ink: So Saffron, Real Red, Chocolate Chip
Paper: So Saffron, Real Red, Whisper White

It has been a long time since I made a card without any ribbon, or punches, or anything other than just stamps, ink, and paper. I am really pleased with how this came out!

My friend Mike gave me the most beautiful box right at the end of the school year. His husband Rob had taken photos of Biscuit and modge podged them all over the outside. It is absolutely amazing! I figured the very least that I could do was to make them a cute doggie stationary set. I tried to make it look like their dog Murphy, but the only similiarity really is that she is brown. Here’s what I came up with. I love how it came out!

Stamps: Man’s Best Friend
Ink: Chocolate Chip
Paper: Riding Hood Red, Chocolate Chip, Whisper White, Bella Rose Designer Series Paper
Accessories: Riding Hood Red Striped Grosgrain Ribbon, 1 1/4″ Circle Punch, 1 3/8″ Circle Punch, Scallop Circle Punch, Gold Brads

Don’t forget! Only 3 days left to order Stamps on the Last Chance List!

Just wanted to give a big shout out to my husband! Eve and I both made him Father’s Day cards. I’ll show you hers first. She was very creative, and used a black Stampin’ Write marker to ink up only the tools on two of the stamp sets she used, so the words would only show up once. Yes, she is only 6, but she is a very accomplished stamper. She has been stamping for 2/3 of her life, after all!

Stamps: Totally Tools, And Many Mower
Ink: Basic Black, Brocade Blue, Chocolate Chip, Certainly Celery
Paper: Certainly Celery, Baja Breeze, Whisper White, Muirfield Designer Series Paper
Accessories: Styled Silver Hodge Podge Hardware, Designer Label Punch

Below is the card that I made Steve. Both Eve and I really liked how the “Happy Father’s Day”  fit so nicely into the Designer Label punch and its coordinating silver frame. Remember, this versatile set, And Many Mower, will not be available after June 30th!

Stamps: And Many Mower
Ink: Not Quite Navy, Baja  Breeze, Kiwi Kiss
