Only 24 days left until the first night of Hanukkah! Are you ready? Here’s another card to inspire you. It is one I made for a Stampin’ Addicts Holiday Mini Catalog swap.

Stamps: Let There be Light
Ink: Bashful Blue, Night of Navy, Crushed Curry
Paper: Bashful Blue, Night of Navy, Crushed Curry, Whisper White, Crushed Curry Designer Series Paper
Other: Bashful Blue Brads

I’m trying to decide which color I prefer with the Hanukkah blues — Crushed Curry or Summer Sun? What do you think?

This is the third card that I made for the Stampin’ Addicts 3″x3″ holiday card swap. I changed the Designer Series Paper on it the same way I had on this Hanukkah card, by brayering Bashful Blue ink over the Night of Navy Designer Series Paper. I love doing this! It really changes the feel of the card, by eliminating the stark white on the DSP and allowing the focal image to show.

Paper: Night of Navy, Summer Sun, Whisper White, Hostess Prints Pack Designer Series Paper

Be sure and come back tomorrow — I am honored to be taking part in Operation Write Home‘s Veteran’s Day Blog hop.

(ETA: Oh my goodness! I am so excited & honored that this card was chosen as one of the winners of the So Shelli Creative Challenge! Please note that I have moved my blog to its new home at http://yaphamason.com)

In direct contrast with yesterday’s elegant 3″x3″ Hanukkah card, today’s is a much more whimsical look. I used non-traditional colors to accent the funky nature of the candles on this card. It is another one I made for the Stampin’ Addicts Holiday 3″x3″ card swap. It also is a perfect fit for this week’s Pals Paper Arts theme challenge.

Today is Veterans’ Day, and I want to start out with a big thank you to all of the men and women who are serving or have served our country in the Armed Forces. Thank you for giving so much of yourselves. In celebration of this, I will be participating in Operation Write Home’s Veteran’s Day Blog Hop.  It starts this Saturday, November 14th.  Yes, Veteran’s Day is today, but the organizers want to give everyone plenty of time to visit the 100+ blogs that will be participating. Be sure to stop back on Saturday and check out the hop!

The card I have to share with you today is from a 3″x3″ Holiday Card swap that I recently participated in on Stampin’ Addicts. I was in four groups for this swap, so you’ll be seeing some more of these cards. I really like the 3″x3″ format. You can mail it in a regular size envelope for no extra charge, or use it as a gift card on a package. It is small enough to slip into a lunch box, but large enough to provide a canvas for some great art work. I was really pleased with how well Gold Embossing Powder showed the details of this stamp. It lends a more elegant look to this whimsical stamp.

The first night of Hanukkah is a little over five weeks away! Wow! It is on the early side this year, or as my dad would say, December is late this year…

I figured I had better crackin’ on the Hanukkah cards, so I decided to use this week’s Saturday Sketch Challenge from Stampin’ 411 for another one.

I debated what little images I would use in the focal image. I played around with creating my own menorah using the single candle stamp from Party Hearty, but I wasn’t happy with how it turned out. I’m going to have to work on that idea some more. Instead I used the menorah stamp from Holiday Blitz for both the main image and the images down the left side. I also used my silver Encore ink, which I hadn’t opened in a while. I had forgotten how fabulous it was! Here’s what I came up with:

Stamps: Holiday Blitz, Shalom Sayings
Ink: Bashful Blue, Night of Navy, Silver Encore
Paper: Bashful Blue, Night of Navy, Brushed Silver, Whisper White
Other: Silver Cord, Eyelet Border Punch, Stamp-a-ma-jig

Thanks for looking!

As long as I’m starting with the Hanukkah cards, I figured that I might as well do one for the Pals Paper Arts Sketch challenge this week too. I like the big circle as the focal point.

I hadn’t done any embossing on my Hanukkah cards yet, and I love the look of silver and Night of Navy, so I grabbed those first. I thought the Bashful Blue pieces looked a little plain, so I used the single candle from Party Hearty to make a more interesting background. Here’s the finished card:

Stamps: Shalom Sayings, Party Hearty
Ink: VersaMark, Bashful Blue
Paper: Night of Navy, Bashful Blue, Brushed Silver, Going Grey
Other: Silver Embossing Powder, 1/4″ Night of Navy Grosgrain Ribbon, Silver Elastic Cord, Scallops #2 Bigz Die, Big Shot

Thanks for looking!

I was at a Tupperware party the other night (yes, seriously, and it was so much fun!) and I was talking to one of my friends about how I had made a few Hanukkah cards, but hadn’t started putting them up on my blog yet, thinking it was still too far away. But she pointed out (Thanks Lisa!) that Hanukkah is less then 2 months away, and there was no need to wait to post them. Excellent point! So I decided to do a Hanukkah card for this week’s Saturday Sketch Challenge from Stamping 411.

This sketch lent itself very nicely to the new “Let There Be Light” single stamp found in the Holiday Mini Catalog. I love the fun whimsical look of the candles. See the Designer Series Paper on top? It didn’t start out like that. See below for more info on how I modified it.

Stamps: Let There Be Light
Ink: Night of Navy, Bashful Blue, Crushed Curry
Paper: Night of Navy, Bashful Blue, Crushed Curry, Whisper White, Crushed Curry Designer Patterns Series Paper, Patterns Pack Designer Series Paper (Hostess Level 1)
Other: Brayer

The top piece of Designer Series Paper is from the Patterns Pack that you can get free with as a Hostess Level 1 set. It comes with five colors included — Ruby Red, Mellow Moss, Sahara Sand, Really Rust, and Night of Navy. I used one of  the Night of Navy patterns for this card. Here’s what it looked like fresh out of the pack:

But it was too white. It took away from the stamped image. So I pulled out my handy dandy brayer nd my Bashful Blue ink pad, and I brayed ink over the piece of Designer Series Paper. Et viola! A beautiful piece of Designer Series Paper that matches my card fabulously! Amazing, huh?
