I am honored to be a part of Operation Write Home‘s Veteran’s Day Blog Hop. Operation Write Home is a fabulous organization. They are a group of crafters from across America (and beyond!) who make handmade cards for deployed heroes so they can keep in touch with their loved ones at home! They serve all branches of the military in all deployed locations, including those stationed aboard ships. Please visit their home page for more information on supporting this wonderful cause.

As part of the blog hop, I will be showing you two cards today. The first is an “Any Hero” card. It is a thank you card that will be going to one of our service men or women, in appreciation of the sacrifices they are making for our country. I wanted to make a patriotic card, but since Eve was writing the message for the inside, I chose a design that reflected that. It is both patriotic and kid-like. (The great shape at the top is made by turning the Top Note die cut 90° and running it through the Big Shot a second time.)

Stamps: Beary Best Friends, Beary Nice Wishes
Ink: StazOn Black, Night of Navy
Paper: Real Red, Whisper White, Jackpot Designer Series Paper (dress), Hostess Prints Pack Designer Series Paper (Night of Navy)
Other: Watercolor Wonder Crayons, Top Note Bigz Die, Big Shot

Here is Eve’s note on the inside:

The second card I have to share with you today is one of the blank Valentines that will be sent to the troops. so they have Valentines to send home to their loved ones. It may seem early for Valentines, but when you figure shipping time abroad and back, it’s not too early. I wanted to make something that was not “lumpy,” so it would be easy to mail, as well as something that would be appropriate for a man or women. This is what I came up with:

Stamps: A Happy Heart
Ink: Real Red, Creamy Caramel
Paper: Real Red, Creamy Caramel, Very Vanilla, Jackpot Designer Series Paper
Other: Sponge Daubers

I hope you have enjoyed this stop on Operation Write Home‘s Veteran’s Day Blog Hop.

Your next stop is Cindy at Heart’s Delight Cards.

I can’t wait to see what she has made!

The thing I miss most,  living here in Southern California, is the Fall Colors. I love the beauty of the trees in the fall! Even though most of the colors are passed their peak else where, I can still create beautiful Fall colors on my cards. This is the third card that I will be making with my faculty group this month. It is quick and easy, though the Top Note Die Cut gives it a sense of elegance.

Stamps: Season of Friendship, Sanded
Ink: Soft Suede, Crushed Curry, Pumpkin Pie, Ruby Red
Paper: Ruby Red, Soft Suede, Very Vanilla
Other: 1/4″ Pumpkin Pie Grosgrain Ribbon

As soon as I saw this adorable turkey on Mickey’s blog, I knew I just had to make one of my own! I used candy corn in the Sweet Treats cup, and made my own designer paper with the leaf from Holiday Blitz. The base is a 3″x3″ card, but it could easily be incorporated into something larger.  How cute would this be for Thanksgiving place cards?

Stamps: Holiday Blitz
Ink: More Mustard, Pumpkin Pie, Really Rust
Paper: More Mustard, Pumpkin Pie, Really Rust, Chocolate Chip, Summer Sun, Real Red, Very Vanilla
Other: Scallop #2 Bigz Die, 1″ Circle Punch, Small Oval Punch, 1 3/4″ Circle Punch,  Sweet Treats Cup, googly eyes

This is one of three great Thanksgiving projects that I will be making in my faculty after-school stamp class.

We’re doing Halloween Buddies at school — each teacher has a secret buddy that they give treats to for a week and a half before Halloween. It is so much fun! The bummer though, is that I can’t give anything stamped, because then my buddy would know that it was me! Arggh! Talk about frustrating! I f I could though, I would definitely give her this adorable Halloween matchbox.

It was Sarah‘s fabulous idea to put the little pumpkin faces on the Hershey’s nuggets. How cute are they?

Stamps: Holiday Blitz
Ink: Basic Black
Paper: Pumpkin Pie, Cast-a-Spell Designer Series Paper
Other: Pumpkin Pie 1/4″ Grosgrain Ribbon, Matchbox Bigz XL Die, Big Shot, Hershey Nuggets

This is one of the fun projects we made at my Faculty Halloween stamping get together. Let me know when you want to schedule your stamping party!

I’m on the social committee at school. We plan events where we can hang out and relax as a faculty — things that don’t involve school work. So of course I volunteered to host card making in the library. Our big tables are just perfect for stamping! Today was our first get together, and we had a lot of fun. We made a few different Halloween projects, and one of them fit perfectly with today’s Pals Paper Arts color challenge. (Actually two of them did, but I’ll save the other for another day.) Throw in a little black, and these colors are delightfully spooky!

One of the Halloween treats that we made today was this great little bag. Look familiar? Of course it does! I have made them for Hanukkah, Valentine’s Day, and  St. Patrick’s Day. I just love the way two peppermint patties look covered with scalloped circles and Top Note Die Cut on the baggie! Here is my Halloween version:

Stamps: Batty for You, All Holidays
Ink: Basic Black
Paper: Pumpkin Pie, Old Olive, Perfect Plum, Basic Black. Cast-a-Spell Designer Series Paper
Other: Top Note Die, Big Shot, Word Window Punch, 1 1/4″ Circle Punch, 1 3/8″ Circle Punch, Scallop Circle Punch, Small Cello Bags, peppermint patties

How cute would these be to hand out at Halloween parties> Or for very special Trick-or-Treaters?

Our friend Tracy was kind enough to let Steve stay at her house on his latest trip to Massachusetts, so of course I had to send her a nice pack of cards as a thank you! I made a few different ones, that I will show you over the next few days. This first one is my favorite. Tracy brews her own beer, so I knew I had to make her one with this set. It uses the ultra-cool Movers and Shapers Die which lets you cut a window in the card. There a variety of different shapes you can cut with it. I used the Curly Label one for this. The hole is just a smidge bigger than the Curly Label Punch, so you can fit a punched piece in the window, and use the part that gets cut out with the die to matte it! Here’s the front of the card:

And here’s what it looks like when you open it up:

Stamps: Cheers to You
Ink: Chocolate Chip, More Mustard
Paper: Chocolate Chip, More Mustard, Whisper White
Other: Chocolate Chip 5/8″ Grosgrain Ribbon, Perfect Details Texturz Plate, Movers & Shapers Curly Label Die, Curly Label Punch
